I've decided that I'm sick of using stupid 'code names' for software versions.
What's wrong with just using the standard version numbering convention that has been employed for a very long time and is widely accepted? Code names alienate anybody not familiar with the software. I don't know about anyone else, but I want as many people to adopt it as possible. They confuse people. They're simply cryptic and nondescriptive.
With version numbers, such as x.xx.xxx, the user can find the most recent version of software based upon the simple relation of the numbers incrementing chronologically and with new developments and enhancements inside the software. They can't gather anything in the way of features from "Pluto" to "Da Vinci." They're arbitrary and useless.
If you really want to deviate, at least use something meaningful like roman numerals or alphanumeric codes.
